Video Essentials was created in 1992 by Michael Lawton after decades of work as a school teacher and university lecturer on video and sound production.

Michael retired in 2024 and stepped down as director of the company, but stayed on as a videographer. He sold the company to Ryan Powell, who had been working with him for over a decade. Ryan completed a Bachelor of Screen Production at the University of Canberra (Melbourne campus) in 2013, starting work at Video Essentials during his time at Uni.

With over 30 years of experience, we have produced over 3000 videos of live production events including school concerts and plays, dance concerts, conferences, funerals and weddings. As a boutique producer, Ryan will work with you from concept to completion to ensure a smooth process and minimize the demands on your precious time.

Your satisfaction is our priority. We pride ourselves on a fast turnaround and a highly developed skill set. We have worked with a wide variety of industries including government departments, schools, manufacturers, retailers, funeral service providers, wedding service providers, marketing firms, public relations companies and event organisers. No job is too small. No job is too big.
